TRiNDS Team Spotlight: Diana Cunningham, Director of Data Management

All of us at TRiNDS come to work every day committed to conducting the best quality rare disease and neuromuscular research. Today we’d like to introduce Diana Cunningham, our Director of Data Management. We sat down with Diana to learn more about her and her work.

How did you come to work in clinical research?

Diana: I started my career in clinical research right out of college and have been in research ever since. I started as a research assistant in a pediatric clinic, managing a clinical trial on middle ear infection. I then moved to a hospital setting where I was a clinic coordinator on a degenerative eye disease trial. After this, I moved into data management and worked at several contract research organizations (CROs) and sponsor companies on a wide variety of clinical indications. I have continued my career in data management and enjoy the continual learning that comes with working in this field.

What does your typical day look like at TRiNDS?

Diana: I am not sure there is a typical day. I come to work thinking I am going to accomplish x, y, and z and, when I open my inbox or receive a new assignment, my plans change. My job involves working on and overseeing studies within DM, writing and reviewing controlled documents, working on study and department budgets, looking at process and infrastructure needs, managing a team, and business development. I enjoy the variety and different challenges of the job.

What are you most excited about for the future of neuromuscular research?

Diana: I am excited to see so many technological advances being made in the field of neuromuscular research. It is great to see so much support for the neuromuscular disease (NMD) community. I am excited about the thought of being part of a team that is trying to find a treatment for these life altering diseases that affect so many patients and their families.
